Training lecturers, shaping the future of the IC industry

IC design training, the foundation for technology development in Vietnam

In the context of constant technological advancements, capturing and adapting to new trends is undeniable, especially in microchips, a decisive sector for the progress of the electronics and information technology industry. To meet the increasing demands of the labor market, assigning lecturers to participate in intensive training courses on IC design is not only an important step but also a special opportunity for the sustainable development of education and technology at universities.

In early 2024, under the direction of Comrade Nguyen Hong Linh - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, LHU and Sun Edu International Education Joint Stock Company signed a strategic cooperation agreement on building a semiconductor IC center. This will be the first IC design center in Dong Nai.

Enhancing IC design training quality

In parallel, through a potential collaboration between universities and Synopsys Corporation, one of the world's leading providers of IC technology, a unique training program has been implemented. Accordingly, universities' representatives will be sponsored a free 4-month training course at Synopsys' headquarters in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. After that, they are required to be present at Synopsys to work full-time from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. everyday and at least 3 days per week.

This time, MSc. Le Hoang Anh - Vice Dean of Faculty of Mechatronics and Electronics, LHU, takes responsibility for attending the course, starting the human resources that will operate the IC Design Center at LHU in the future.

The training course also has the participation of lecturers from leading universities such as University of Technology, University of Information Technology, University of Science, University of Technology and Education, Vietnamese-German University and LHU.

This training program is not only an opportunity for individuals but also an important step towards the comprehensive development of the IC industry and education in Vietnam.

The training course's objectives are to provide knowledge about IC design technology and instruct on how to develop a training curriculum in line with the actual needs of learners. The participating lecturers will receive support from Synopsys's leading experts and materials, thereby having the opportunity to self-study and practice on real projects.

More importantly, after completing the course, lecturers in addition to in-depth knowledge, will be encouraged to develop their own training curriculum based on data and experience from Synopsys. This contributes to improving the education quality, concurrently creating a strong network of training experts in IC design, thence spreading the development of the semiconductor IC industry.

Being supported with computers and access to Synopsys' leading software and resources, lecturers will be fully equipped with the tools to advance their research and teaching, thereby meeting the rising needs of the labor market and contributing to the sustainable development of the semiconductor IC industry.
