LHU students win Most Effective Presentation Award at 5th eProjects Innovation Showcase 2024

On May 14, 2024 at Cao Thang Technical College in Ho Chi Minh City, seven student teams representing 7 universities nationwide (Phenikaa University - Hanoi, University of Science and Technology - University of Da Nang, Lac Hong University - Dong Nai, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Can Tho University) demonstrated their industry-linked prototypes to the audience at the industry mentorship eProjects Innovation Showcase under the ASU - Dow Vietnam STEM Program.

eProjects is an engineering innovation program, supported by mentors from famous engineering corporations such as Dow Vietnam, Rockwell Automation and First Solar during which lecturers and industry mentors guide teams to address industry-proposed problems through problem identification, survey, analysis, prototypes building, testing and updating to find out the best solution suitable to the industry context and problems. During eProjects, teams learn hard and soft skills needed to become a professional engineer. Hard skills are like designing, building, and testing prototypes and soft skills like teamwork, project management, communication and critical thinking.

At the 5th eProjects Innovation Showcase, the 7 student teams presented innovative solutions to address real-world problems such as applying artificial intelligence and machines to production, controlling CO2 emissions in transportation, water treatment, assistive robots, and green energy initiatives.

Students from LHU winning the Most Effective Presentation Award at the eProjects Innovation Showcase held on May 14 in Ho Chi Minh City

A group of students from LHU won the Most Effective Presentation Award with the project "Remove photovoltaic cells in solar panels". According to the group's presentation, “Solar energy is abundant and available, making it a promising alternative to conventional petroleum fuels. Solar cells are often found in solar panels, converting directly into electricity creating the photoelectric effect. However, solar panels produce chemicals that are toxic to people. Therefore, it is necessary to remove this part of the cell proactively, avoiding causing environmental pollution". The project proposes a solution which is a support system for the extraction and removal of hazardous coatings on solar panels after being ground into powder.

Mr. Loganathan Ravisanker - President of Dow Vietnam said “Dow's vision is to build a future that promotes innovation, creativity, sustainable development and inclusiveness, improving the well-being of the community. We are dedicated to providing equal opportunity in STEM and skilled careers for all, also empowering our employees to drive this meaningful change. In the coming time, we will focus on strengthening and expanding STEM programs and highly skilled professions as well as facilitating connections between students and innovation-based employment opportunities. This initiative gives special priority to disadvantaged groups and young people in society...".
